  • Shower Classifications: Master the requirements for Type 1 and Type 2 unenclosed showers, including mandatory water stop placements.

  • Membrane Science: Differentiate between liquid and sheet membranes, understanding the impact of Dry Film Thickness (DFT) and why certain moisture-cured polyurethanes are unsuitable for direct-stick tile applications.

  • The 1:80 Rule: Clarify the NCC requirements for continuous falls in floor finishes where a floor waste is installed.

Throughout her career with leading manufacturers including Fatra Australia, James Hardie and ARDEX, Kara has worked closely with architects, designers, builders, contractors and industry professionals, developing a strong understanding of the relationship between product selection, specification and practical installation.

As State Manager for Fatra Australia, Kara supports projects across Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia, working with specifiers and project teams to provide practical guidance on waterproofing systems and project requirements.

Kara is passionate about education, collaboration and reducing construction risk, helping design and construction teams navigate waterproofing requirements and achieve practical, durable and compliant outcomes.
